Telesummit Day 4: Oh, Shut UP!
Published: Thu, 08/05/10
Hi ,
I also shared an article recently from Rhonda Jones of The Christian Meditator, on "How to Defeat Stinking Thinking" that was phenomenal.
So in truth, when I listened to Jackie Trottmann's message last night, I started with a serious case of "I Already Know That" syndrome. But I got over it quickly. I learned something new!
At one point, Jackie tells the story of how her pastor taught on Psalm 46:10:
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
She learned that the meaning behind "Be still" is "Shut up".
When you get quiet and meditate on the word of God, you are telling your mindless mental chatter to shut up. The phrase "Reset Button" popped into my head and I remembered how, when my garbage disposal gets clogged, I have to press a red Reset button so that it can process efficiently again.
The bible teaches that you are transformed by the renewing of your mind. But how can you be transformed if your mind is clogged with garbage from the world, your past, your present, or even yourself?
Taking time to meditate on God's word and spending time in his presence is your mental Reset button.
One scripture that made me see how serious taking this time is comes from Jeremiah 17:10:
I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.
The fact that God tests the mind blew my mind! I've never gotten that part until now. I knew he searches the heart but completely missed the part about testing the mind.
I'll probably be processing that one for quite a while but in the meantime, here are some scriptures that you can meditate on today regarding things God could possibly test your mind for:
2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
James 1:5-8
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
My question to you today is...is your mind ready to be tested? I know I still have work to do in this area!
If you've already registered for the telesummit, you should have received the link from Ginny to listen to Jackie's teaching. Go listen now if you haven't already because Jackie provides practical steps on how you can add Christian meditation to your life - starting with just 10 minutes a day.
If you haven't registered, what are you waiting for? It is free and you can still catch the final two speakers. In fact, you could be listening on the call tonight!
Plus, you can take advantage of the Peak Performance Package so you can hear all the teaching you've missed out on up to this point and experience your own breakthrough.
These teachings are taking me to another level in health and in my walk with the Lord. My prayer for you is that the value you gain in time spent listening to the nightly messages and/or in the Peak Performance Package will far exceed any investment you make!
Now, let's get prepared for that test :)
