Telesummit Day 3: Kelly's Confession

Published: Wed, 08/04/10

Hi ,

I told you before the telesummit started that I was eager to learn from the other teachers. While I didn't intend to share what I'm learning each day, I've felt led to do it so far. I'm going with the flow!

If you listened to Kelly Parr's message last night, you heard her unforgettable, heart-wrenching confession near the end of the call. If you've experienced deep emotional pain like Kelly described and are eating emotionally to cope...well, I hope you see that going on the latest diet will never fix pain like that!

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy? It's so much harder to face the darker parts of yourself and your past. It can be scary to be that open and vulnerable - even before the God who loves you.

Kelly said, "The blood of Jesus doesn't cover what we don't uncover" and also "In the places of darkness is where the enemy traffics."

She reminded me that whenever you refuse to confess the truth to the Lord and give him access to those dark places in your heart, you give the enemy power over you in that area.

After the message, I was led to look up scriptures related to the word "Confess". And I found a beauty in the book of Psalm. It is not an accident that the book of ultimate comfort, Psalm, is  right after the book of ultimate suffering, Job.

I urge you to meditate on Psalm 32 today and allow it to minister to you:

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.

When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.  Selah
I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,"
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.  Selah

For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You
In a time when You may be found;
Surely in a flood of great waters
They shall not come near him.
You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.  Selah

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Just this morning, I read a prayer Mike wrote for his prayer group at work:

"I pray that there be more laughter and not sorrow in each of our lives.  Help us to trust in you more so that there will indeed be more laughing.

The laughter will start if you will first forgive us of our sins as only you can and help us to not sin against you.  Give us a heart for our brothers and sisters in Christ first and expand it to include those abroad even in this locality. Expand our horizon so that we may reach the lost in our own world within this world."

You cannot impart deliverance to others if you insist on staying bound. Kelly also said last night, "We teach others what we know but we impart to them who we are."

What are you giving to others from the treasury of your heart? Is it God's fruit or is it pain, anger, distrust, bitterness, fear, insecurity - born in those dark places you refuse to uncover and let God heal?
