I'm having car trouble and am going to the mechanic to have it checked out this morning, but I wanted to send out a quick note to you first to share the insight I got from Jannie Wilcoxson's teaching on the 'An Inspired Life' telesummit call last night. I do hope you registered and are getting great benefit from the messages so far!
At one point, Ginny Edwards asked Jannie if she thought food could become an idol. I always thought it could be but Jannie's response made me see deeper than that. She said that it is really about making your flesh an idol.
She said basically that your mind becomes about gratifying your flesh above all else. Food is just one way that people choose to express that. Alcohol, drugs, sexual promiscuity, and other addictions are symptomatic of that core issue.
Wow. Last night I meditated on what she said about making your flesh an idol and this morning in my prayer time, I opened the bible right to Jeremiah 17:5-8
Thus says the LORD:
" Cursed is the man who trusts in man
And makes flesh his strength,
Whose heart departs from the LORD.
For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,
And shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
In a salt land which is not inhabited.
" Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
And whose hope is the LORD.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
This scripture makes me see that trusting in man, even yourself, will always leave you dry and wanting - in a spiritual and emotional desert. And that extends to gratifying your flesh through addictions. The more you practice them, the stronger they get. Your flesh becomes your strength rather than God.
Of course, in this scripture is also the cure - trusting in God, which you can learn to do by spending time in his presence, learning about his character, and also studying his word every day.
So do a heart check every day or even several times a day "Where am I planted - by the waters or in the desert?"
Being tempted to food or any other addiction is a big sign that at that moment, you are in the desert and you need to find your source of water...quick!
Here is the link to Jannie's teaching in case you weren't on the call last night. But better hurry...per Ginny's schedule, it will be taken down this evening.
Now, I'm off to the mechanic!
Be blessed in health, healing, and wholeness,

Ginny allows free access to recordings of all the telesummit calls for 24 hours, but if you want permanent access to all the calls plus catch up on what you missed, she is offering an upgrade to the Peak Performance package once you register. She just told me that she is offering it at a special price right now. If you order during the telesummit, you save over 30% off the regular price.
So if you want permanent access to the calls to inspire and teach you long after the summit is over, then I recommend taking advantage of the special during telesummit - and save over 30%.
