Get Ready to Receive

"There is a difference between wishing for something and being ready to receive it."
The speaker said that at the time, he wanted to earn $25,000 a year. He decided to prepare himself to receive that. So he started to do his best on his $4,000 job instead of slacking off like the other men.
He said that by doing his best where he was, the discipline he gained prepared him not only for earning $25,000, which he did achieve, but for the millionaire status he enjoys today.
When I heard his story, it made me ask a question of myself: "By my daily actions, what am I preparing myself to receive?"
In Matthew 7:7-8, the scripture says, ""Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."
In church on Sunday, my pastor preached on this scripture and said that many people have asked God for more...but that is where they stop. They don't take the next steps of seeking and knocking.
How true! Here is an example: if you are single and you believe that you are destined to be married, are you preparing yourself to receive your husband? Can you manage your home well as a single person or are you living in mess now?
Adding another person to that will only add to the mess! Best to get things under control now while you only have yourself to deal with.
How about your health? What are you preparing yourself to receive later? Many people say that they are expecting to be in excellent health when they get older, but are preparing themselves for pain and disease by the actions they are taking now.
If you don't like what you are preparing yourself to receive, then here are a few tips to change that.
1. Get a notepad and write at the top: "What am I preparing myself to receive?" Look at your daily actions in several key areas - spiritual, relationships, health, financial, and contribution. Get honest and write down what your daily actions will likely lead to in those areas.
2. Take your concerns to God. If you are not pleased with what you are preparing to receive, ask God to give you the desires of your heart - not your will but his best for you. Spend at least 30 minutes in peace and quiet with him in prayer, seeking his wisdom. Write down any impressions that come to you.
3. Take action on the wisdom you gain immediately. What small step can you take right now to prepare yourself to receive? Seeking and knocking are action steps and move you past the wishing and hoping stage. If you are hoping for a financial breakthrough, can you start learning how to better manage the money you have now to prepare to receive increased finances later?
So start where you are: Start seeking knowledge and counsel, start knocking on doors, and never give up. Dare to get ready to receive your blessing!
Be blessed in health, wealth, and wisdom,
