"It is Well."

Published: Fri, 05/08/09

Hi ,

I feel led to share this short message with you from my morning prayer time. You need this, especially if you are going through a tough time right now. Be encouraged:

"It is well."

The statement comes from the story I read this morning about how Elisha resurrected the Shunammite woman's son in 2 Kings 4:8-37. I urge you to read the story now.

In the story, the woman was barren and her husband advanced in age, yet Elisha prophesied that she would have a son. And the following year, it happened just as the prophet had said.

However after a few years, the boy complained of a severe headache and died in his mother's arms. She immediately sought the man of God, Elisha. When Elisha's servant asked if she, her husband, and her son were doing well, she answered, "It is well."

You might wonder how in the world could she say "It is well" when faced with an apparently hopeless situation?

It is an example of faith - expectation with hope - in action. She demonstrated her faith by her words - she spoke what she hoped for and what she expected God to deliver. She demonstrated faith in her actions - she went immediately to the source where she could get help.

Elisha discerned her distress and went to the son. And he resurrected the boy for God's glory and to his mother's joy!

This story is a perfect illustration of the scripture:

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" Romans 8:28

This woman could say with confidence "it is well" because she knew two facts about the believers' life in God through Christ Jesus: either a situation is "well" now or it is on its way to getting well!

So keep the hope of "it is well" in your heart today and every day. And it will be.

Be blessed in health, wealth, and wisdom,
