Five Easy Ways to Feel Better Instantly

Published: Thu, 10/02/08

Hi ,

Do you find yourself saying "I'm so tired" often? I hear it all the time as a wellness coach and I've even coined a term for it: The C.O.D.E. Blues. It stands for Completely Out of Dynamic Energy Blues. It's when you don't have energy to do much of anything beyond what's necessary for your survival. And dynamic energy is required to live a life in which you thrive, not just survive.

Normally, a primary culprit is responsible for C.O.D.E. blues: a poor diet. It's a diet that is too "poor" in energy-building foods and too "rich" in energy-draining foods. Once the script is flipped, your energy explodes.

But let's say that you are feeling sluggish and you want to pull yourself out of it instantly.  What can you do?

Well, I've found there are 5 things that I do that make me feel better instantly. Do each one yourself and see if they don't make you feel better.

Sunshine

Go outside and allow the sun to warm your skin for 10-20 minutes. When the sun's rays strike your skin, vitamin D is produced. Not only does this vitamin help aid in the body's use of calcium (leading to strong bones and teeth), but also some research has shown that it provides protection against high blood pressure and muscle weakness and pain.

Fresh Air

While you are outside, take some deep cleansing breaths. Breathe in through your nose and raise your arms up to the sky.  Breathe out through your mouth with your lips in an 'O' shape and lower your arms back to your sides. Do this several times and feel a sense of relaxation and peace flood your body. You can even do this exercise at your desk in the afternoon when your energy is low to help revive yourself or to regain calm during a stressful day.

Water

Nothing takes the place of drinking pure water. Your body is about 60% water and many of your bodily functions require it to function at its best. For a quick formula on exactly how much water you need for maximum performance, then order the Take Back Your Temple ebook here:

Order

Clutter drains energy. If you've got a dirty, cluttered house, then simply pick a corner or spot to clean up first so that you can begin to bring some order to your life. Do the same with your work area. Throw away papers and items that you no longer need. Wash, fold, and put away your clothes. Organize and pay your bills. When your living spaces are cluttered and disorganized you make things that should be easy harder on yourself than they have to be. So take the easy way out and keep your house in order.

A side benefit is that can sell things you no longer need on eBay or donate them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army and save money on your taxes.

Exercise

Your body was made to move, pure and simple. Exercise helps produce "feel good" chemicals called endorphins. It also improves your circulation and improves your ability to maintain a healthy weight. Just by taking a 10 minute walk outside, you can get in some exercise, some fresh air, and sunshine all at once. What a deal!

The next time you are experiencing the C.O.D.E. blues, then think: sunshine, fresh air, water, order, exercise. These 5 things will help you blast those blues away so you can gain the energy you need to live your best life!
