Cool Water
Did you know that even mild dehydration can slow the rate at which you burn fat by 3%? You may have heard that it's important that you drink water to lose weight, but may not have heard why. One of the liver's jobs is to break down fat so that your body can use it. However, it's also a backup organ for the kidneys, which filter your blood. The kidneys require lots of water to do their job and without it, the liver has to step in to help. Just think of this process as like having to pick up the slack for a lazy coworker! If the liver is busy helping out the kidneys, then it will not be able to break down much fat for you. To burn maximum fat, you need to give the kidneys plenty of water to free up the liver to do its job. The ideal amount to drink each day is ½ of your body weight in ounces. So, if you weigh 180 lbs then you need to drink 90 ounces, which is just over 11 eight-ounce cups per day.
So if you want to release weight, a good first step to take is to trade in sugared drinks for water. If you only replaced one soft drink per day with water, you would lose about 12 pounds in a year and save approximately $200! I think you'll agree that's a change worth making. Kim Floyd
