As far as my stomach is concerned, the kitchen is closed after 7:00 PM. However, after my "rest and digest" period tonight, my mind said, "Get something to eat."
So I did a quick check-in to ask, "Am I hungry?" The answer was "No." However, I did notice that my mouth was dry with a nasty taste in it, plus my eyes were dry.
Ah! That was the REAL issue.
So, I took out my contact lenses, administered eye drops, and put on my glasses. That was better.
Then, I made myself a cup of chamomile tea with some lemon and had a sip. That was better too!
This situation reminded me of an article I wrote a few years ago entitled "How to Comfort your Cravings."
You see, I discovered that because many of us have lost touch with our bodies' real needs, we tend to label any physical discomfort as "I need to eat."
But most of the time, that is not the answer.
I'd love to hear your thoughts about this strategy!
