Isn't it amazing that today not only starts a new year, but a new DECADE?
Many people resolve to start a better life on New Years' Day.
But did you know that most New Years resolutions made on January 1 are forgotten by January 12?
That's just 11 days from now. How do you prevent that from happening to you?
One way is to establish your commitment to getting healthier and stronger by linking that goal to what you value from the heart.
TBYT member Cindy shared the following questions recently in our private group that I thought was very helpful to others:
''...If you decide that you need to pursue a healthier lifestyle, the power of that transformation is found in what you already believe right now about value and worth.
So what do you believe today? And what are you going to do about it?''
In response to Cindy's question, I searched my heart and posted the following about how my health goals reflect my values.
I pray what I wrote inspires you to get clear about your own values. That will help you establish your commitment and gain consistency to overcome challenges and get lasting results!

Great word, Cindy - as children of the most High God, our identity is found in our position in Jesus Christ, nothing more and nothing less. You asked, ''So what do you believe today? And what are you going to do about it?''
I believe that I am the royal daughter of the Most High God who has joined her Father in the family business, which is to share our testimony of Salvation in Jesus Christ with those who don't yet know Him.
We want others to taste and see that the Lord is good!
What am I going to do about what I believe? I believe my health is important to my mission in the Lord.
Therefore, I make daily choices to protect my health so that I can remain strong and vibrant to do the work the Lord calls me to do. So I live with purpose.
The joy of the Lord is my strength. And I won't settle for less than what God says is possible!
Why should any of us?
I recognize my days are numbered. I don't have time to waste on worthless things. If I take actions that are destroying my health, then my attention will be diverted to that activity and away from my mission.
My mission is too important to allow that.
I see myself as a soldier. A soldier must be sober and vigilant according the warning in 1 Peter 5:8 - ''Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.''
I will not make it easy for the enemy to devour my life. My life is worth saving. The Lord wouldn't have bothered to create me if it wasn't! He wouldn't have sent Jesus to die for my sins if it wasn't.
If I make wise choices with foods that help me and not hurt me, that makes my life EASIER and more enjoyable. I set up my environment to make it easier to make wise choices and I avoid foods that hijack my brain.
To me, it's a waste of time to pick brain-hijacking foods and set up food fights for myself when there are so many other good foods available that don't hijack my brain!
I won't make the same mistake Eve made - focusing on the 1 tree God directed not to eat for her protection, rather than enjoying the perhaps thousands of trees she could have eaten from freely.
God gave us a choice between life and death, blessing and cursing, so I choose LIFE - eternal life in Christ.
''...therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days (Deuteronomy 30:18-20);''
Thanks for the thought-provoking post, Cindy. It felt good to go deep on that one and remind myself of what I value in life!

So ask yourself: Do your choices reflect the things that you value, including your daily health choices?
