WEIGHT on the Lord

Recently, some old childhood insecurities resurrected in my mind.

Old feelings of loneliness and rejection beckoned. While I recognized what was happening, it was a fight not to go there.

Every time feelings from my past tried to get me to return to them, I fought them off. I had to repeatedly remind myself of my identity in the Lord NOW.

Still, it was an exhausting fight.

The next morning, I was praying about it with my husband Mike and I quoted the following scripture:

"But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31)."

But even after that, I still felt unnerved that those old feelings came up again after all this time.

However, Mike reminded me of the comforting truth:

There would be no need to RENEW our strength in the Lord if the fight of faith did not drain us at times.

Think about our phones: Why would we need to recharge our phones if they stayed fully charged all the time?

But our phones don't. Our phones get drained and we have to plug them in to recharge them.

It's the same thing with us.

If we don't take time to "be still" in our day and plug into the Lord, then we are in danger of running on empty.

It is most often when we feel drain that the temptation to binge or overeat is strongest.

In my past, sugary foods were the ones I turned to most for a recharge. Now I know why.

If you do the same, then the following article will help you understand the reason why sugar is so attractive when feel tired and what you can do about it.
