God's Best for YOU (3 Things)

Published: Sun, 12/31/17

I've been meditating upon God's first words concerning man in Genesis. Why?

It is impossible to see the world correctly without knowing God's best intentions for you.

Here are the first 3 things God said regarding mankind:

1. Genesis 1:26:

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

God made you in His image and gave you dominion.

His intention is for you to know who He is and who you are in Him.

You are valuable to God.

Dominion means that the Lord has given you a certain territory to occupy.

Your have a certain territory in your family, among friends, on the job, in business, etc.

It is your responsibility to exercise Godly stewardship over your territory.

2. Genesis 1:28:

"Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth (Genesis 1:)."

God has blessed you to be fruitful and multiply.

You have every Spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus (see Ephesians 1:3). God wants you to live an abundant life in Him.

He wants you to bear Spiritual fruit to glorify Him.

According to Galatians 5:22-23, these fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Spiritual fruit is the evidence of your Spiritual growth, which is a process.

You grow Spiritually as you submit to the Holy Spirit's leading and practice God's word daily.

You know your Spiritual gifts and you use them to bless others in the body of Christ to build up God's kingdom.

You tell others about God's goodness in your life and tell them about the good news of salvation in Christ.

You desire to add others to God's family so they can experience His love - just as you abide in His love.

3. Genesis 1:29:

And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food."

God gave you food.

Notice that God brings up the issue of food only after He establishes mankind's identity, dominion, and purpose.

The message is clear: God gave mankind food to power our bodies so that we can live fruitful, productive lives in Him.

Otherwise, as my husband Mike says, it is like filling a car up with fuel - but never going anywhere!

As the Designer of your body, God created 'Designer Foods' for you to enjoy and to nourish our bodies.

He gave mankind the best of foods so that you can enjoy the best of health.

Yet, the enemy wants you to forget the Lord's desires for your life.

He wants you to make your entire life revolve around food.

In John 4:34, Jesus made His priorities clear: 'My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.'"

Because Jesus was submitted to the Father's will, He was committed to the Father's work!

I believe if we don't take time to remind ourselves daily of our identity in the Lord, our dominion, and our purpose, then we will allow our fleshly weaknesses to have dominion over us!

So take the time meditate on these truths today - and every day to set your mind with the right priorities.

May the Lord give you wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him and show you how to apply these truths to your life!
