Confronting the Fear of Failure

Published: Sat, 01/20/18

The #1 fear people have in starting a weight loss program is fear of failure.

If previous experiences were disappointing, then you might say to yourself, "Nope, I failed. Don't want to go through that again."

But just imagine drawing that conclusion with a baby learning to walk.

How many opportunities would you give them to try again?

Let's say you'd give them 10 opportunities. The baby started to get up for try #11, but you pushed them back down.

"Forget it, kid. You aren't meant to walk. You failed. I forbid you to try again. You might fall and "be disappointed."

If you have the ability to walk right now, thank God that nobody ever forbade you to try again!

Once you started walking, did the number of falls you had before that really matter?

Not at all.

In your efforts to walk, you received space to learn and grow.

Give yourself that space now. That is a gift of love and grace.

Your destiny is to live out Colossians 1:10:

"that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

Your destiny is to live healthy, healed, and whole

Give yourself space to learn and grow on your weight loss journey.

With that gift of love and grace, fear will no longer be an issue.

Be blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,
