Have you ever felt discouraged on your weight loss journey? I know the feeling!
But 1 mindset shift can help fuel your weight loss motivation.
A
mature lady in her 60s decided to become a doctor. She told one of her friends about her dream.
But instead of support, the friend scoffed.
"How long is that going to take…8, 10 years? Why, you’ll be in your 70s by
then!"
The lady paused for a moment, then smiled at her friend.
"Time is going to pass anyway. I choose how I want the time to pass. I'm choosing to pass time working on my dream. If God should bless me to live into my 70s, I will get there and
have my medical degree!"
Think about this with your weight loss motivation.
Let’s say that you decide to lose 50 pounds.
You thought it would take 6
months.
However, 6 months have passed and you are discouraged that you’ve "only" lost 25 pounds.
What do you do with your time after that?
Instead of quitting and going back to your old
habits, instead say to yourself:
"I guess this is going to take longer than I thought."
- Celebrate the 25 pounds you did lose.
- Re-commit to finishing the process.
- Decide to keep working on your dream
Here is a Biblical scripture to practice if your mind chatter ever tries to discourage you again:
"…that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12)."
With the faith and patience on your side, you will inherit God's promises and achieve your weight loss goal in due season!
