Happy Mother's Day weekend! I had to write about something that happened at a Mother/Daughter tea I attended on yesterday at church.
This issue is close to my heart.
The decorations
were lovely; the lunch buffet looked delectable. The ladies were asked to serve themselves at the buffet.
However not too long after the first group had begun serving themselves, a ministry member on duty had to make an uncomfortable announcement to everyone:
"Ladies when you are
serving yourselves, please remember that there are other women who are waiting to eat. We do not want to run out of food."
Before the announcement, some of the first group were returning to their tables with plates piled high with food - enough to serve two or three other people.
I once wrote an article on TBYT about this issue called "The Top 10 Reasons Women Can Eat Too Much."
What I saw yesterday was reason #9 in
action!
Check out the list for yourself and see if you can relate to any. You may be falling victim to environmental cues to eat that have nothing to do with hunger. I once did and it shocked me how often I was doing it!
But once you are aware of these cues, you can protect yourself against
them:
