The Power in His Name

Do you know the benefits of knowing Jesus when it comes to overcoming emotional eating?

A situation happened to Mike recently that demonstrated the power in a name.

We traveled to a different city and decided to play golf there. Mike visited the course the day before our round to check it out.

At the course, Mike introduced himself to an older gentlemen. Mike told him that he was visiting and was going to play the next day.

After some friendly conversation with the stranger, the older man took out a card and wrote his name on it:

"When you come to the pro shop, tell them that you are a guest of Arnold Smalley. They know me because I'm a member here. They'll give you the guest rate, a big discount."

Mike took the card, thanked the man for his kindness and left.

The next day, we followed Mr. Smalley's instructions. We went to the desk and said, "We are guests of Arnold Smalley." The man smiled in recognition and indeed gave us a big discount!

What is my point?

You've probably heard the old saying: "It's not what you know, but WHO you know."

Consider the most important Being that you know right now:

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:11-13)."

This scripture says that you were born of God because you received Jesus. 1 John 5:4 tells you a major benefit of that:

"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith."

You are an overcomer because you are born again as a child of God!

However, this truth will not benefit you if you do not believe and live it.

What would have happened if Mike had unbelief in the power of Mr. Smalley's name?

We would ended up paying a price that we did not have to pay.

However, because we believed in the power in His name and used it, we stepped up to receive its benefits!

Jesus' name means that you will overcome every circumstance that life throws at you.

Jesus' peace will guard your heart and mind in every situation.

Step up to receive the power of His name right now.

Be blessed in health, healing, and wholeness,
