The Surprising Key to Heart Change

Published: Sat, 02/11/17

Have you ever needed to change something in your life, but your heart just wasn't it?

Here is a surprising key to change: The more you meditate on God's goodness, the more you want to make choices that please Him in your daily life.

On the other hand, if you are always meditating on what you've lost or lack, then it leads to being ungrateful or feeling as if the Lord is not meeting your needs.

With the latter mindset, you start looking elsewhere for satisfaction.

I'm reminded of an old story told about the late actor Paul Newman. He was married to the actress Joanne Woodward for many years.

A reporter asked Newman if he ever thought about having an affair since he starred with so many beautiful women in his movies.

Newman replied, "Why would I want hamburger when I've got steak at home?"

Romans 2:4 says of the Lord: "Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"

Since this scripture tells us that it is God's goodness that leads to repentance (a change of heart and mind), then consider your meditation.

Even if you are going through a hard time right now, how is God expressing His love and goodness to you in the midst of it? What are you grateful for?

The more you make God's goodness and gratitude your daily meditation, the more your heart softens toward Him so that His Holy Spirit can give you His heart.

When you have God's heart, you will be moved to develop His mind and then, your actions will began to reflect His glorious nature!

Be blessed in health, healing, and wholeness,
