How God Keeps His Word

I had an experience the other day that illustrated a powerful principle.

Mike and I have decided to switch internet providers. I called the new company and was ready to order. The phone representative was going to charge us an installation fee.

However, I had their website special before my eyes, which said that the installation was free.

The representative kept telling me that they always charged for installation. Although I was polite, I became like a broken record:

"But your website says that the installation is free."

I even took a screen grab of what I was seeing and offered to email it to her.

Finally, after much back and forth, she said that she had to talk to her supervisor and got a code to give me the free installation.

What is my point? If the company itself had not written that the installation was free, I would have just accepted the installation charge.

But the only reason I asked for free installation was because the company posted on their website that free installation was available!

Now, would it have been the company's fault if they had free installation but I didn't ask for it?

No.

Would it have been their fault if I paid for the installation but found out later that I could have had it for free?

No again.

The only reason I saw that they had free installation was because I was looking for deals on internet service!

The Lord has many promises in His word for all areas of our lives. Are we specifically looking for them and taking them to Him in our prayer lives?

The Lord Himself put them in His word! Why would we not ask Him for them when we pray? It is not His fault if we don't ask.

Even though I had to haggle with the company to get them to keep their word on the free installation, we don't have to haggle with God to get Him to keep His word.

Numbers 23:19 gives us insight into God's character:

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

God keeps His word! Keep it before your eyes, meditate upon it, and take it to Him in prayer.

Have courage to persevere until His word comes to pass in your life.
