I was listening to Pastor Andrew Wommack the other day and he said something that stopped me in my tracks:
Sin is emotional.
Now to be clear, he
did not say that "emotions are sin." That second statement is untrue. After all, we are created in God's image and the Bible clearly shows us that God experiences emotions like joy, anger, and grief to name a few. So emotions are not sin in themselves.
However, Pastor Wommack meant that our actions in response to our emotions can lead to sin if we don't control
them.
Consider how King David sinned with Bathsheba (see 2 Samuel, chapter 11). David committed adultery because he failed to control the emotion of desire.
As believers in Jesus Christ, it's important to know that we can manage our emotions in Godly ways.
Our emotions are birthed from our thoughts. If we don't win the battle in our thoughts, we will ultimately lose the battle for our lives!
My husband Mike created a 45-second video that illustrates how the weight of negative emotions can become physical weight.
That is what happened to me! I gained over 100 pounds after high school because the weight of depression rested upon me.
But the Lord showed me how to
release those pounds of pain through the power of His word.
Learning how to managing negative emotions through God's word is a key difference between the Take Back Your Temple program and secular weight loss programs.
Be blessed in Health, Healing, and
Wholeness,
