What experiences would you like to have in your life? It is important that you think about this question because your whole life adds up to a collection of daily experiences.
Most people do not think about their daily life experiences, so they miss out on the
abundant life God wants them to have!
Instead they just drift along, allowing their old habits to dictate their life's direction.
Dialogue from Lewis Carroll’s classic book "Alice in Wonderland" illustrates the way most people go through life.
In the book, Alice asks the Cheshire Cat: "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
The Cat responds, “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
Alice says, "I don't much care where
–"
The Cat interrupts her, "Then it doesn't matter which way you go."
Intention requires attention plus retention.
If you are drifting through life without paying attention to what you do
daily, then you will likely end up in a poor direction!
However in the Bible, God’s people are advised to live with intention:
Psalm 90:12 asks the Lord,
So
teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
The Lord has gifted each one of us with a certain number of days. What we do with each of them is our gift back to God. So let us purpose in our hearts to maximize each day for God's glory.
Repeat after me: Intention requires
attention plus retention.
You’ll learn about each of these in 4 steps so that you can live with purpose - each and every day.
