I taught our women’s GIFT Group at church on Sunday and a young woman in class said that recent events have left her anxious and confused – wondering what in the world is going on.
It has been a challenging time for me to maintain my peace as well. It seems like the world is being shaken.
You may wonder why I’m even writing about this subject, given that Take Back Your Temple is primarily about health and weight loss.
But a key principle of the TBYT program is that we are not just bodies – we have a Spirit, a mind, and emotions too. So we need ministry in every area - which a mere diet cannot give.
Our health does not exist in isolation. When you are troubled emotionally and stressed, it is bound to affect your physical health too.
And for many of us, we run back to destructive habits when the
world becomes too much to handle!
You need to regain your footing again. The first place to check is your foundation. Ask yourself, “What does the foundation of my life rest upon?”
Does your emotional stability rest upon what other people do or upon circumstances?
If so, then
you can be shaken. After all, people can do terrible things to hurt one other. Circumstances can change for the worse and threaten your security.
During times when I feel shaken, I use Psalm 61:2 as a prescription:
“From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
Jesus is my Rock. In this present world, I am holding on to the Rock for dear life! I have to remind myself that none of what is happening is a surprise to God.
As His people,
we must remember who the real enemy is:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places
(Ephesians 6:12).”
Every act of lawlessness, injustice, or other evil deed happens because of deception in someone’s heart.
Such is the effect of sin in this world. Proverbs 12:20 says, “Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy.”
That is our role during this crisis – we are counselors of peace in this world, but soldiers of Spiritual warfare against the enemy in the spiritual realm. This is a time that we allow God’s Spirit to lead the way.

following article, I share 3 things you can do to shine the light of Christ into the darkness of the world and even into dark places in your life:
