A Short, Power-Packed Daily Prayer

Who doesn't love a good makeover story? It's inspiring to see something once broken down or neglected, but transformed into something whole and useful!

I am going through a Bible study called 'Extreme Makeover of the Soul' by Bryan Wilkerson. Many Christians are familiar with the prayer of salvation, which is asking Jesus to come into your heart and save you from your sins.

That is justification. According to Romans 6, justification saves us from the penalty of sin because Jesus paid the price.

But few know that a process is supposed to come after that - sanctification. The sanctification process delivers you from the power of sin in your life - every day.

I did not know anything about sanctification for the first 9 years after saying the prayer of salvation.

Sanctification is the process by which God changes you from the inside out - transforming you into the image of Jesus.

You are set apart for the Father's use. Sanctification is a DAILY decision on your part to submit to that process.

In reading that Bible study this morning, I came across a power-packed prayer by author Chuck Swindoll. We can put this prayer into our own words, but it speaks to our humble, daily decision to present our minds and bodies to God each day as instruments of righteousness:

"This is your day, Lord. I want to be at your disposal. I have no idea what these next 24 hours will contain. But before I begin, before I sip my first cup of coffee, and even before I get dressed, I want you to know that from this moment on throughout this day, I’m yours, Lord. Help me to lean on you, to draw strength from you, and to have you fill my mind and my thoughts. Take control of my senses so that I am literally filled with your presence and power. I want to be your tool, your vessel today. I can’t make it happen. And so I’m asking, Lord, fill me with your Spirit today."

Before I get out of bed each morning, I yield my mind and body to God for Him to use that day. I know I can't do anything of own strength; I need Jesus to live His life through me every day through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Without God's daily activity in my life, I would mess things up. I would think the wrong things, say the wrong things, and do the wrong things.

How about you?

Be blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,
