The Weariness Battle

Published: Sat, 05/21/16

This week at Bible study, our pastor challenged us to memorize Galatians 6:9:

"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."

It's a scripture I know well on this health journey!

This scripture tells you that it is possible to become weary, even when doing something beneficial for yourself and others.

I looked up the definition of weariness. Besides tiredness, it can mean dissatisfaction and impatience as well.

To prevent weariness from setting in, it is wise to build a baseline of energy and health. Eat adequate amounts of protein, slow-burning carbs, and healthy fats so that your body has what it needs to function properly.

It's wise to take care of your physical health to meet Spiritual demands.

Remember how Jesus asked his disciples to watch with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, but they went to sleep instead (Matthew 26:36-46)?

So keep your physical battery charged and you will be "Eveready."

Dissatisfaction and impatience can be dealt with through remembering your purpose and God's promise. Take time to write your vision of better health and review it regularly. Remember why you are working on your goal. Find joy in doing those things that birth the vision.

And remember, only hold yourself accountable for doing the right thing TODAY. Sometimes you discourage yourself by thinking, "I have to do this for the rest of my life?"

God gives you strength for today, so use His strength to do what is right today.

Bringing the rest of your life into it puts a weight on you that you weren't meant to carry.

Let God carry the big weight of "the rest of your life."

You be faithful to pick up that little weight of TODAY.

When you do that consistently, you won't grow weary and you can be confident that "the rest of your life" is in good hands!

Be blessed in health, healing, and wholeness,
