I was lying in bed awake one Sunday morning around 3:00 a.m., reflecting on God’s name, "I AM." Like everyone, I have periods of insecurity. I wonder if I can accomplish the things that God has called me to do.
During those times of insecurity, I will tell the Father, "Well, you know I’m not this" or "You know I’m not that."
Insecurity hurts!
Did you know that even Moses, the great Deliverer,
struggled with insecurity?
After God showed Moses the signs and wonders that He would accomplish through him, Moses protested:
"O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue (Exodus
4:10)."
Moses too focused on, "I am not."
But a startling thought occurred to me as I meditated on my shortcomings:
"It does not matter what I'm not. What matters is that You ARE!"
God responded to Moses’ "I am not" in this way:
So the Lord said to him, 'Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now
therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say (Exodus 4:11-12)."
Right then as I reflected on who God is, I got happy. I saw myself in the Spirit saying joyfully to God, "Yes, You ARE!"
That is the whole essence of the faith walk. You simply agree, "Yes, you are!" to the
great "I AM".
In the following article, you'll discover 4 ways you can shift "I am not" thinking to "Yes, You are" thinking. In this way, you can kill painful insecurity in your life:
