How to Release Mental Weight

Published: Sat, 04/02/16

Ugh! Don't you just hate it when you feel overwhelmed and your mind just darts in different directions? I had one of those days yesterday.

I was stressed and getting anxious about all the things I had to do. My mind was saying everything was urgent and had to be done right NOW!

I wish I could say I immediately remembered the lessons the Lord has taught me about dealing with stress.

But I didn't.

Instead I spent a large part of my afternoon yesterday surfing on entertainment websites. I reverted back to an old habit of procrastination.

When I finally came to myself, I was like "ENOUGH!" I got a pen and piece of paper and did what I call a "brain dump."

I just wrote down everything on my mind. No rhyme or reason. I just wanted to get the thoughts out of my head where they were driving me crazy - like bees.

After I couldn't write anymore, I prayed 1 Peter 5:7 to the Lord: "...casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." I asked the Lord to carry my cares.

As I shifted my thoughts to Him, I felt sanity returning.

I know from experience that if you are weighed down mentally, it will eventually show up physically.

I wrote an article about that. So I had to review the lessons the Lord has taught me about releasing mental weight.

Please join me if you need to release some weight.
