This morning, I've been meditating on Proverbs 9:17-18:
"Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell."
We human beings seem to have a need to withdraw to a secret place when life or our emotions overwhelm us. The place we choose as our secret place can either lead us to greater heights in the Lord or into the depths of hell.
What is your secret place? When you go to that place, do you end up feeling renewed, refreshed, and energized? Or do you end up feeling ashamed, guilty, or discouraged?
Today, let this be our
prayer:
"Oh Lord, today I make You my secret place. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. Christ Jesus is made unto me wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. I will abide under the shelter of Your wings today. Thank You for giving me a secret place in which to dwell in You."
