I was driving home yesterday and noticed that the sky was gray with thick clouds - not a patch of blue in sight. It was quite gloomy. I thought to myself, “Guess the sun isn’t shining today.”
Then the Holy Spirit spoke to me: “The sun is always shining. You just can’t see it.”
Suddenly, joy overcame me. I imagined traveling high above the clouds,
breaking through the thick clouds until I could behold the sun, shining in a pristine blue sky.
Even though I could not see the sun with my natural eyes, yet I knew it was there. No matter what else occurs in the atmosphere, the sun never stops shining.
How often do we allow the “clouds” in our lives to captivate us and forget about the fact that the “Son” is always shining
on us, no matter how things appear in the natural?
I am grateful that the Son shone on me on December 11, 2003.
That was the date I had the chest pain that saved my life. Even though I was afraid I was going to die, God spoke to me in the midst of that pain: “It is not supposed to be this way.”
To change, I had to
believe that His word was true – even though I could not see how I was going to overcome the habits that led me to eat my way up to 240 pounds.
But God showed me that if I had a powerful enough “Why” (my deep, powerful, emotional reason to change), then He could show me the “How.”
