Please do not call yourself FAT

Published: Fri, 07/10/15

Would you do me a favor? Please do not call yourself fat. It is ridiculous. Just because you have excess fat on your body does not mean that is who you are.

If I sound like I take this issue personally…well, it is because I do.

I started calling myself “fat” when I was just 12 years-old. I had no idea that my words would become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

To lose weight, I found a diet in a women’s magazine that gave me a mere 850 calories to eat per day, which is basically a starvation diet.

Although I lost the weight I thought I needed to lose, it did not last. The minute I went back to my old habits, the weight returned plus more pounds.

Little did I know that similar self-defeating dieting cycles would play out in my life for the next 20 or so years!

But then God showed me a better way to reach a healthy weight based upon His word. He also taught me about the danger of calling myself negative names.

Once you learn this Biblical principle, I pray that you never call yourself "fat" again!

Be blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,
