Prayer to Redeem the Past (weight loss prayer)

In my own weight loss journey, one of the issues I dealt with was feeling like I was stuck in my painful past. I also felt like my past weight loss failures were haunting me. I feared failing again. 


The following is a prayer I wrote to help myself in this area. I pray it encourages you as well. This prayer is adapted from my popular book, The Weight Loss Prayers: 30 Daily Prayers for Weight Loss Motivation.


Today's Prayer


Lord, thank you that you redeem my past, guide my present, and secure my future! I feel stuck in the same old place. Heal me and comfort me so that I can get past painful experiences and live in the now, according to how You made me.

You created me to reflect Your glory. So if there are any negative behaviors in my life that dull that reflection, then I want You to clean them up! I want others to see an accurate reflection of the difference you have made and are making in my life.

You created me in Your image. You created me fearfully and wonderfully. Help me to no longer neglect myself or insult myself because I don't fit a man-made beauty standard.

You love me exactly as I am. Help me to love myself enough to do what is best for myself, not just what is easiest at the moment.

Empower me to reflect Your righteousness, God. Help me to make choices of integrity, justice, truth, and equity.

You said in Your word that when my foot slips, your mercy will hold me up. When I am anxious, I will find delight in your comforts.

I want to stay on the straight and narrow path. Because You are faithful, I am confident that You are keeping me in the center of Your will, which is a blessed place! 

Amen.
