Prayer for freedom (weight loss prayer)

In my own weight loss journey, one of the issues I dealt with at the beginning was ignorance about God's promises in the Bible. But then I discovered that meditating upon God's word, plus believing it enough to act upon it is the key to freedom!


In terms of your weight loss goal, it is essential that you secure your emotions with the truth of God's word. Often emotional instability leads to destructive behaviors, such as emotional eating.


The following is a prayer I wrote to help myself in this area. I pray it encourages you as well. This prayer is adapted from my popular book, The Weight Loss Prayers: 30 Daily Prayers for Weight Loss Motivation.


Today's Prayer


Lord, I know that Your Words are Spirit and they are life. Your Word does not come back to You void but will accomplish that which You please.


You said in John 8:31-32, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."


Lord, I hunger for freedom. So I ask today for an increased hunger to study Your Word. I treasure Your Word more than my necessary food.


I know that as a follower of Christ, the enemy will try to make me turn from the righteous path. But Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I need Your Word to guide my actions so that I stay on the path that You have set for me.


I can withstand the enemy with the powerful weapons of Spiritual warfare You have given me. So help me to take up the sword of the Spirit today, which is Your Holy Word.


Help me to study Your Word so that it overflows my heart and issues forth from my mouth. You have promised that I will have what I say according to Your Word.


Speaking Your Word ensures that what I say is in complete agreement to Your will and Your ways.


Most importantly, I commit to being a doer of your Word in addition to hearing it daily. It is only when I act upon your word that it becomes a part of me.


I thank You that I have inherited your promises through my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
