Elizabeth Young, a TBYT member, recently shared "Commandments for Taking Back Your Temple," an article she wrote. When I read it, I thought, "I could have written this myself." Each "commandment" is backed up by scriptures and I pray you will take these to heart on your own weight loss journey.
But before I share these "commandments" below, this is the Last Day to get your limited edition Take Back Your Temple t-shirt. What better way to encourage yourself as you are working on your weight loss goals.

Can't you see us all wearing our T-shirts at a TBYT convention in the future? I can.
Now, on to the commandments:

Commandments for Taking Back Your Temple by Elizabeth Ann Dorsey Young
1.Thou shalt involve God in your eating.
· "Whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31)."
· "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass (Psalm 37:5)."
2. Thou shalt respect your body.
· "Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's (I Corinthians 6:19-20)."
· "I praise You because of the wonderful way You have created me (Psalm 139:14 (CEV)."
3. Thou shalt not give in to temptation.
· "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13)."
· "For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted (Hebrews 2:18)."
4. Thou shalt eat in moderation.
· "You shall eat
in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people shall never be put to shame (Joel 2:26)."
5. Thou shalt be determined to succeed
and never give up.
· "For the Lord God will help me; therefore, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a flint. And I know that I will not be ashamed (Isaiah
50:7)."
· " And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9)."
6. Thou shalt
have self-control.
· "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..... Galatians 5:22-23)
· "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear),
but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control ((II Timothy 1:7 (AMP)."
7. Thou shalt not be condemned when you mess up and have
a bad day.
· There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who
do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1).
· "Through the Lord's mercies, we are not consumed because His compassions fail not. They are new every
morning.... (Lamentations 3:22-23)"
8. Thou shalt have patience while on this journey.
· "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6)."
9. Thou shalt not think or say negative things about your body.
· "You are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth (Proverbs 6:2)."
· "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
keep watch over the door of my lips (Psalm 141:3)."
· "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7)."
10. Thou shalt be disciplined in exercising your body.
· "I keep my body under control and make it my slave so I won't lose out after telling the good news to others (1 Corinthians 9:27
CEV)."
