You are a child of the Most High God. You have riches beyond imagining. The problem is, you may not see them.

To see them, you need a new way of looking at things and to update your definition of riches. Now, the riches of this world are fine and can be used for good purposes. But you can't take them with you when you go. As the old joke goes, you've never seen a U-haul behind a hearse!

Jesus gave us a new way to see riches: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:19-21)."

This scripture became real to me last week when thieves stole our lawnmower and my husband Mike's laptop!

But while those things were taken away from us, there was one thing the thieves couldn't take away: The peace and joy that comes from building up the kingdom of God.

When you make right decisions that bring glory to God, you too are gaining treasures in heaven. These things glorify God:

• Bearing Spiritual fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control)
• Loving your neighbor as yourself
• Using the gifts and talents that God has given you to benefit others
• Forgiving and praying for those who hurt you

These things will live on after you are gone; they will live on in the memories of the people you helped! Now, we may never meet the people who stole from us, but we are helping them by praying for their salvation. We hope to meet them in heaven someday. Treasure!

If you are not laying up treasures in heaven, here are some things you can do to get started:

1.   Take responsibility

See each day as a treasure, a new beginning. You have the power to make a difference. You can change for the better and you can do something good to make someone else's day better.

2.   Take inventory

Ask yourself, "What can I do to leave a positive legacy?" That may involve turning your pain into a passion. For example, my pain was weighing 240 pounds and being in bondage to emotional eating. But once God showed me a better way to live, my pain turned into a passion for health that I'm now sharing with you!

3.   Take action

Whatever your answer to the previous question is, do it! Yes, I know it can be scary. Yes, I know it can be uncomfortable. But when your heart is pointed heaven-ward daily and focused on God's agenda, you know there are bigger things at stake than your personal comfort.

God wants to expand kingdom territory through you. But He can't do that if you allow fear to stop you from becoming ALL that He created you to be.

That was a big lesson I had to learn. In a way, I saw myself as like a grasshopper facing giants. In my case, that giant was fear. But God gave me a vision of speaking to thousands of people. Although I couldn't see that happening, the vision wouldn't go away.

Carefully with love, God started leading me out of my comfort zone. The first step was in establishing the Take Back Your Temple website back in 2005. He is the best teacher EVER! He has a compassionate, Father's heart. If you trust Him, He will shape you into what He designed you to be too.

You will expand kingdom territory. You will occupy it with excellence until Jesus comes back or until He takes you home to be with Him!

My prayer is that you wake up and take back what is yours. First, get your treasures in heaven daily. Then, take responsibility for what is yours to manage on the Earth - your health, your family, your career, your business.

And God will be glorified!
