A reader named Jennifer sent me a great message recently about how she prays scriptures, particularly when she needs strength. Don't we all need strength to overcome the challenges and temptations of this world?
Here is Jennifer's message about a powerful scripture turned into a simple prayer for strength (shared with permission). I pray it blesses you today:
******
I just had a friend ask me to send a verse concerning strength so thought I would share. Just yesterday while reading about David in 1 Samuel 30, I came across "But David strengthened himself in the Lord, his God."
This got me to wondering how he
did this... seems that chronologically David wrote Psalm 86 around the same time 1 Samuel 30 was happening. David had returned home to find that his family had been taken captive and people were talking about stoning him.... talk about a situation where a person would need strength!
Psalm 86:15 - 16 a says: "But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant..."
Praying scripture is so powerful. So if you find yourself feeling weak, use Psalm 86:16 as part of your prayer: "Turn to me and be
gracious to me; give your strength to your
servant..."
