God taught me a lesson about faith last year, which I was reminded of as I battled cold symptoms this week. I had a cold around this same time last year too when I decided to take a decongestant for relief. I opened the package and took out 2 pills when God stopped me and told me to look at the box. I did. Then He said something very profound:
"You are about to take these pills simply because you believe the manufacturer's word on the box. You believe that the pills will do what the box says they will do. But how do you really know if that is true? They may not help at all, but you trust that they will. You use faith every day, but that faith is directed towards belief in words printed on a box, in advertising, commercials, and other things.
Take Me at My Word. The bible has many promises for you. Believe them, act upon them, and watch the word go to work."
Those words convicted me. I realized that too often, I have believed the words the world speaks above those words God has already spoken! However in the past year, I have put God's word into practice in greater measure and my faith has grown.
When you became born again, you were given a measure of faith according to Romans 12:3. However Faith is like muscles; we all have them, but the level of muscle strength differs with every person. Why? Because in many cases, the ones who have weak muscles haven't used them much. So as you use your faith, you will build it up.
Here is a promise to put your faith in today:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9)."
What goals would you strive for if you really believed God is with you? Take the first step and start exercising your faith. You will be amazed to see what God can do with just a little faith!
Be blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,
Kimberly Taylor
