Happy Thanksgiving!
In the U.S., this holiday was originally created to give thanks to God for what we have and for bringing us safely through another year. Here is a prayer to help us keep that focus today:
"Heavenly Father - How grateful I am that you are my Father! In You I have love, salvation, safety, wisdom, strength, honor, and blessing. Thank you that you've raised me up and I sit in together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Lord, help me to fully enjoy the blessings I have in you and not focus on what I've lost or lack. May your peace and joy rest upon me as I follow the leading of Your Spirit today. May others see Your invisible attributes in me. May every decision I make be fully pleasing to You. And at the end of the day, may I be satisfied with my choices, exercising the self control that I already have as a fruit of Your Spirit. Lord, I feed on your faithfulness today and I give you thanks because You are good and your mercy endures forever. Thank you God for giving me a thankful heart, profitable thoughts, and abundant wisdom in Your Word. Amen."
