God is GLORIOUS (Free Devotional Day 14 of 15)

Published: Wed, 10/16/13

Many of you already know 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

According to the late Pastor Ray Stedman, to glorify means "to manifest or display a person's hidden virtue or wisdom or power or beauty, to bring out that which is hidden away in him or her."

As a Believer, your higher purpose in life is to display God's glory through your words and actions.

Today's word to describe God is "Glorious."

Devotion

I love Moses' boldness in Exodus 33:18 in which he made a request to God: "Please, show me Your glory."

God honored Moses' request and the Bible says that He spoke with Moses as a man speaks to his friend. After Moses spent time in God's presence, others could see the difference. In fact, his face shone!

Today, we have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ that surpasses the relationship that even Moses had. According to Colossians 1:27, this is what we have: "To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

The church is compared to a bride in the Bible. Isn't the relationship that a bride and groom have more intimate than that of friends? They share private joys, hurts, secrets, and laughter. As they walk through life together, they are committed to bringing out the best in each other.

As you grow in your relationship with God, the evidence should be in God's attributes growing in you: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control (see Galatians 5:22-23).

Take a moment to consider the fruit you are producing. Jesus said in John 15:8, "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."

Don't you agree that the world should know how glorious our God is? They can when we allow God's glory to shine through and upon us!
