When was the last time you skipped? I'm not talking about skipping meals or skipping with a jump rope, but adding that little hop to your step as you swing your arms as little kids do when they are happy:

For the post month, I've been getting most of my daily exercise by jumping on a mini trampoline. It started with a trampoline challenge video I found on YouTube. Not only has that helped me to get in better shape, but it's added some child-like joy back into my life.
I think we could all handle the stress and responsibilities of being an adult a lot better by rediscovering the joy of movement that children have!
I haven't skipped since I was 8 or 9 years old. This lady advocates starting a 21-day experiment by skipping a few steps everyday to help recapture the joy of youth:
- Week 1: Skip 10 steps every day
- Week 2: Skip 20 steps every day
- Week 3: Skip 30 steps every day
I'd love for you to join me on this challenge if you are able. If you can't skip, then walking or shuffling while swinging your arms will work too. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are (Teddy Roosevelt)."
Here is more information about the challenge. You can sign up free here, track your skip completions and even see videos on how to skip:

When my mother-in-law died 4 years ago, the first image that popped into my head after the funeral was her skipping down heaven's streets of gold like a little girl. It was a sharp contrast to her last days on Earth: She was suffering from cancer, was wheelchair-bound, and needed portable oxygen to breathe.
Imagining God restoring her freedom of movement as a child gave me great joy; Why not move as a child as much as I can while I am on Earth to experience a little of heaven everyday?
I'm planning to skip as a warm-up to my trampoline workout to make it easier for me to remember to do it. What activity do you do already to which you can attach this to make it easier for you to remember?
Two scriptures are inspiring me on this challenge also to re-capture some child-like joy:
- Matthew 19:14 - "
But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
- Romans 14:17 - "for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
I hope you'll join me in pursuing righteousness, peace, and joy everyday. This is but one small, weird step to put more child-like joy into your day!
Be blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,
Kimberly Taylor
